THE Archbishop of Sydney, George Cardinal Pell, warmly thanked priests celebrating 25, 50 and 60 year anniversaries of priestly ordination at the Vianney Dinner at the former St Patrick’s Seminary at Manly on Wednesday, July 20.

The cardinal praised the priests for their dedication and their unstinting service.

More than 60 priests, including Bishop David Cremin, Bishop Julian Porteous, Bishop Terry Brady and Bishop Peter Comensoli attended the dinner at what is now the International College of Management (ICM).

The function took place in what was the old refectory of the seminary. The priests were catered for and served by ICM students.

Fr Denis Foley of Bonnyrigg proposed the toast to the jubilarians, to which Maroubra parish priest Fr Bill Challenor responded. Eight of the 12 jubilarians were able to attend.

Cardinal Pell presented each of the priests with a gift to mark the occasion.
